OneSky
We are only a few weeks away from the unofficial start of summer with Memorial Day weekend. This weekend is typically one of the busier private jet holidays. OneSky would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the locations/events that our clients have travelled to over this weekend in prior years. Should any of these pique your interest, or if another location is on your mind, please let me know and I’ll gladly work up a set of quotes for you.
Washington , D.C.
The National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC is a flag-waving event with patriotic marches and floats. The Parade is sponsored by the World War II Veterans Committee and is an annual tradition of remembrance for those who have fallen serving our country. The National Memorial Day Parade begins at 2 p.m. at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Streets, NW and proceeds along Constitution Avenue, past the White House, ending at 17th Street.
Las Vegas , Nevada
MDW is one of the biggest weekends of the year in Las Vegas. In typical Vegas style, this weekend starts on Thursday and runs for five full days. The club scene and shows are at their best but this weekend is highlighted by epic pool parties including Rehab at the Hard Rock, Tao Beach at the Venetian, and Wet Republic at the MGM. If you’re looking for a warm weather getaway to remember, Las Vegas has a lot to offer. The concierge staff at OneSky Jets can coordinate every aspect of your long Vegas weekend.
Vail / Beaver Creek, Colorado
The summer season in the Vail Valley starts on Memorial Day weekend as chefs from the Vail Valley, Kansas City, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico and more serve up delicious barbeque, live entertainment rocks the Village, and thirty microbreweries bring in their best brew for your sampling pleasure. The festival is called Blues, Brews & BBQ and it runs from noon to 6:00pm on May 29th and 30th.
New York City , New York
Since 1984, New York City has held Fleet Week to honor the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The week features extensive military demonstrations, as well as the opportunity for the public to tour some of the visiting ships (located at Pier 88 and Staten Island). The Memorial Day commemoration is a highlight of the week’s festivities, featuring the singing of Taps and a military aircraft fly over in honor of those who lost their lives in service to the United States.
Indianapolis , Indiana
The history of the Indianapolis 500 shows that this 500 mile race is a circular path to immortality for the winner. This place is hallowed ground. No other race in the world has legends, traditions and statistics like the Indy 500. It is rich in history. It is agony and ecstasy, triumph and tragedy. This year’s race is already packed with excitement with week long events leading up to the big race on Sunday May 30th. Major events include the Miller Lite Carb Day / Firestone Freedom 100 race for Friday May 28th as well as the Pit Stop Challenge, Vintage Car showing and a concert with ZZ Top.
